In formation

The Masters Foundation

In Masters X, the Masters Foundation for Acoustic Research is fiction. This is the start of a real one: a public place where people and organisations studying sound, architecture, manuscripts and consciousness can find each other.

What it is today

A registry. A public directory of associates, each listed with who they are, what they work on and where to find them.

Free. There are no fees and nothing to buy. Associates can ask to be removed at any time.

Reviewed. Every listing is read and approved by the author before it appears.

Not an endorsement. A listing says you work in the field, not that the Foundation vouches for your conclusions, or you for the novel’s.

What it is not, yet

The Masters Foundation is not yet a legal entity or a registered charity, and it does not fund research. If it becomes one, this page will say so and link to the documents.

Until then, “in formation” means exactly that.

Who can associate

ResearchersAcoustics, archaeoacoustics, psychoacoustics, neuroscience, manuscript studies, history of science.
Labs and practicesUniversity groups, acoustic consultancies, recording and measurement studios.
Archives and collectionsLibraries, museums, monasteries and private collections that hold the sources.
Societies and independentsLearned societies, field groups, independent scholars and working artists who use resonance.

Principles

Evidence first. Say what was measured, how, and by whom.

Say which is which. The novel marks fact and fiction; associates are asked to do the same with their own work.

No health claims. Nothing here is medical advice, and listings that sell treatments won’t be approved.
